A walk out for the Free Palestine movement at Kennedy and Jefferson High Schools in Bloomington marks the sixth walkout in the metro area in the last 60 days.

Students from both schools marched to Bloomington City Hall demanding attention for the continued conflict in the Middle East.

Student organizers say part of the reason behind their frustration is the lack of conversations in schools about the current war.

"I am not willing to see this play out without being active and adding my voice to the resistance against the genocide in Palestine," one student told WCCO Radio.

They say it's is their moral obligation to take a stand, and show solidarity with Palestine.

Just before their sixth period class students from both schools marched out for the rally.

"It's important as students and as people that we all continue to talk about this and make this a priority in our lives and that we don't turn a blind eye to what's happening there," another student said. "Because at the end of the day, we're all humans and we all need to be there for each other."

Student organizers say their message to school leaders is to ditch the "status quo" and to keep the conversations about the war active.
