The crowd wasn’t as big as in previous years, but the Twin Cities Pride March was just as joyous as ever yesterday in downtown Minneapolis, according to those in attendance.
One attendee, Eric Buckeyed, says the gloomy forecast may have kept some away, but those who came had a blast.
“This reminds me of years ago. The spirit seems up. I just know I’m enjoying it,” Buckeyes said.
Thousands gathered on both sides of Hennepin Avenue to watch the participants and dance to the music.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey donned his running gear and trotted alongside the parade participants, much to the joy of the spectators who noticed their city’s leader.
“The mayor’s here,” one spectator yelled during an interview with News Talk 830 WCCO.
This was the 51st annual Twin Cities Pride Festival, and this year’s march was led by Grand Marshal Angela Kade Goepferd. Goepferd is the medical director of the gender health program at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.

Kelly Brufladt was at the march with her girlfriend from Saint Cloud, and she shared that the event means a lot.
“I think it’s a nice celebration. It’s fun for everybody to get together and have a great time and celebrate,” Brufladt said. “The political climate can change year over year, but I feel like everybody’s just here to have a great time and celebrate each other.”
