Three people are dead in the crash of a suspected stolen car following a police chase in north Minneapolis.
Officials with the MPD say officers early Monday morning spotted a vehicle believed to have been stolen in an armed carjacking about 24 hours earlier.
The car was first seen by officers at Dowling and Logan Avenues.
After officers approached the vehicle, it took off, eventually going the wrong way down a one-way street.
The car then reportedly lost control, rolled over, and crashed near Emerson and 18th Ave. North.
“The Minneapolis Police Department has called on the BCA to come in and investigate this,” said city spokesman John Elder.
Police says the pursuit lasted about two minutes, and the state patrol is on the scene to reconstruct what happened.
“There was a substantial distance between the suspect vehicle and the squad car, there was no contact between the two vehicles at any given time,” he said.
Dash cam video from the squad car will be used in the probe.
No one else was hurt.
