A three-year old was shot and killed in northeast Minneapolis Monday afternoon.
Officers reportedly responded reports of gunfire inside the Hook and Ladder Apartments around 12:50 p.m. where they located a male child with a gunshot wound to the top of the head.
"We are currently investigating this situation and learning more as we go," Minneapolis Assistant Police Chief Christopher Gaiters says. "But please understand that the investigation is very new and there isn't a lot that has been obtained so far."
Paramedics rushed the boy to Hennepin County Medical Center where he later died.
The shooting is drawing plenty of reaction from children in the neighborhood who spoke to WCCO's Susie Jones.
"He was only three, so, like, he still had a whole bunch of life," said one neighbor. "He could have learned how to ride a bike, he could learn how to drive, he could have had a girlfriend."
"It's just a crazy world, bro," another neighborhood kid added. "He's like this tall and he got shot in his head. I feel like it's probably, could have been like an accident."
There are no arrests so far.
