Minnesota State Fair officials announced Sunday that the 2022 Great Minnesota Get-Together will cost more to attend and patrons will have less time during the day to attend.

Regular admission will cost $17 while kids and seniors will pay $15. Kids 4 and under will enter free.

The Minnesota State Fair opens August 25 and for the first 11 days will run from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. The final day, Labor Day, will run form 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. after organizers decided to cut the day short by an hour.

“Uncertainty about whether there would even be a fair in ’21 lingered into May, creating a significantly compressed time frame in which to produce what is normally one of the largest and best-attended events in the world,” State Fair General Manager Jerry Hammer said in an email. “The severe labor shortage, supply chain issues, lack of time to obtain thousands of commitments needed and security concerns were just a few of the myriad hurdles to clear,” Hammer continued.

2022 Minnesota State Fair tickets are $13 through the end of January.

Just over 1.3 million people attended the 2021 fair, which resumed operations after the COVID-19 pandemic forced organizers to cancel events in 2020.
