One of WCCO Radio's most recognizable alumni is getting one of Minnesota broadcasting's highest honors.

Former midday host Tim Russell has received his call to the Minnesota Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Tim worked for WCCO from 1983 through 1993, co-hosting a show with Ruth Koscialak. He returned to 'CCO in 1997 hosting noon-3pm, then 9-Noon with Patty Peterson before joining the Morning News with Dave Lee. Russell was a longtime part of "Prairie Home Companion" with Garrison Keillor and was a part of the Prairie Home Companion film as well, playing Al the stage manager. He also had bit parts in the Coen Brothers movie "A Serious Man" and 1994's "Little Big League". He retired from WCCO in 2010.

Russell is known for many talents, but maybe none more than all of the different voices he displayed during shows like Minnesota Hospital and A Prairie Home Companion.

In addition to Russell, the 2023 class of Minnesota Broadcasters Hall of Fame inductees include Boyd Huppert (KARE), Mary Campbell (Omni Broadcasting Company), Jim Bartels (KNUJ AM/FM) and Lee Valsvik (KARE, Twin Cities radio).
