Rising travel costs could entice more people to make local summer vacation plans.
Minnesota remains a top choice for those making summer travel plans. Explore Minnesota's Christopher Morgan says there are a number of spots in Minnesota that offer diverse scenery.
"I think what makes Minnesota unique is we have such a different landscape, depending on where you are in the state. You can experience multiple different types of scenery," Morgan explains.
And it's not just the great destinations sparking an expected summer travel surge.
"Minnesotans, I think, recently have shown on the world stage that, hey, we're a great group of people, and we're welcoming, and we want you to come and not only experience our destination, but also come experience the hospitality that we have to offer with that," adds Morgan.
Morgan says the bluff country of southeastern Minnesota, and the North Shore of Lake Superior are places are growing in popularity when it comes to travel in the state.
"I think that Winona and bluff country area is set to continue to have a rise in tourism," Morgan explains. "I think as well as the Duluth and North Shore, that's been a national favorite. It gets a lot of attention, but for good reason."
Outdoor recreation remains a major economic driver in the state, worth $13.9 billion to Minnesota's economy.
The Explore Minnesota website offers a long list of destinations across the state, plus a calendar of events and things to do this summer.
