Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteers this winter. Buildings won't build themselves this time of year. That's why Habitat for Humanity created their Winter Warrior program.
"This is our fifth year having the Winter Warrior Program which invites volunteers out to build with us this winter. So if you volunteer with Habitat three times in the period of January to the end of March, you are a winter warrior," says Senior Engagement Associate Julia Schafer.
You must be at least 16-years old and volunteer times are 8:30 to 3:30 Tuesday through Saturday.
"You might be working on installing flooring, you might be painting, you may be putting up cabinets or installing things like a bathroom vanity," says Schafer. "So there's so much work to be done."
And no need to worry about the cold as pretty much all work will be conducted inside.
"In Minnesota, we don't have the luxury of stopping building when winter comes," Schafer says. "So our staff works really hard to make sure that when snow flies or in winter this year, when it just gets really cold, then all of our building projects have the roof on, the windows are in, and they're ready for winter time work."
