Target Field workers urge the Minnesota Twins to find a different concessions vendor amid strained union negotiations.

Represented by Unite HERE Local 17, concession workers have filed federal unfair labor practice charges against Delaware North, accusing the company of unlawful coercion, intimidation, and surveillance during recent contract negotiations and strike actions.

Sam Woodman is a suites runner at Target Field.

"I have been extremely disappointed and disheartened by Delaware North's response to us," Woodman said. "They have refused to take many of our team's most important proposals seriously, and they have continuously made us, the workers, feel undervalued and unappreciated."

The union is accusing Delaware North of intimidating employees during their historic ongoing stadium strike, what they called the first major league concessions strike in Minnesota.

That fight now gets official backing from the Minneapolis City Council which passed a formal declaration of support, something union Secretary Treasurer Sheigh Freeberg says is important.

"We're seeing an employer that is not engaging meaningfully with the union, and has pushed the union to take its first ever strike at a professional sports stadium in Minnesota," Freeberg adds.

Both sides are set to head back to the negotiating table later this month.

WCCO has reached out to Delaware North about the union claims and has not yet been provided comment.
