Two COVID-19 vaccine clinics Saturday in the Twin Cities will offer individuals an opportunity to receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine and receive Minnesota Twins tickets.
The Twins, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation, CUB Pharmacy, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities, and Twins RBI are partnering to host the clinics from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Jerry Gamble Boys & Girls Club, located at 2410 N. Irving Avenue in Minneapolis, and at from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Arlington Hills Community Center, located at 1200 Payne Avenue in St. Paul.
"This really came out of an effort and focus on our youth," said Nancy O'Brien, "We know that if we can get our kids vaccinated that they're going to be safer this summer playing sports, and most importantly, when they get back into the classroom this fall."
O'Brien added that they're focusing on getting Twins RBI families, however, Saturdays clinics are for the whole community.
"This really is for all youth and all families to come out and get that very important vaccination so we can all be safer," added O'Brien.
While no one will be turned away, participants are asked to bring an insurance card or a state-issued ID, if possible. Participants will receive information on how to get their second dose.
Another vaccination clinic will also take place in Minneapolis at George Floyd Square on Saturday.
The Cultural Wellness Center, a 25-year-old African American nonprofit organization based in South Minneapolis, is hosting the event from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
According to organizers, nearly 94% of Black and African American Minnesotans over 65 have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. However, only 38% of Black and African Americans between 15 and 44 years old have done the same.
