Staffers from the Minnesota Twins and St. Paul Saints are taking a swing at hunger.
About 50 people who work for the two baseball teams got together on Friday and packed up more than 14,000 pounds of food.
They got help from the popular mascots from both teams, TC the Bear and Mudonna the Pig.
That's enough to feed 2,500 people, and it will be available early Thanksgiving week from The Food Group, a local nonprofit focused on using nutritious food to strengthen community.
Emily Eddy White, Director of Advancement & Culture with The Food Group, says there is still an urgent need for affordable food.
"Going into the holiday season, we're still seeing uncertainty," she said. "We're also seeing the cost of food rising really impacting families. Affordable foods and free food is more important than ever right now."
The staffers were able to pack up 840 boxes of non-perishable food at The Food Group's offices in New Hope.
