A 79-year old woman is out the hospital after being shot this past weekend by a random bullet in south Minneapolis.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight August 17 on the 1700 block of 31st Street E.

A bullet fired from a block away struck the woman in her abdomen as she was sitting in her living room.

"The investigator assigned from the Minneapolis Police homicide unit was ultimately able to obtain video of the shooting," Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara explained. "Through the use of that video and others, the use of license plate readers, was able to identify the shooter's vehicle."

Two suspects, a man and a woman, were arrested Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at on Snelling Avenue in St. Paul.

"The woman states that she fired the gun because they thought that they were being chased by someone, and that she had no intention of shooting someone in their house a full city block away," O'Hara adds.
