Two people are dead and a man is in custody after an overnight shooting in the northeast metro.

Police were called to a home just before 1:00 a.m. Wednesday morning in Lexington, Minnesota, about 20 miles northeast of Minneapolis.

When they arrived they found a woman who was deceased and a juvenile male who was gravely injured. He was taken to the hospital and later died according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Tierney Peters telling WCCO-TV it's been a shock to the tight-knit community.

"Something that affects one part of Lexington, it's probably gonna feel like the whole city feels like it's in their backyard," she says. "And so these people who sadly lost their lives in this incident, their loss is going to be felt not only by their loved ones and their friends, but people who may not have personally known them."

Few other details have been made public at this point.

A K-9 was brought in and tracked down a suspect, who was arrested and hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The Sheriff's office says the incident was not random.

They're not saying what, if any, relationship the suspect had to the victims and so far, no ID's have been released.
