At least two people were killed and two others injured in a rush hour crash Thursday afternoon in south Minneapolis.

It happened around 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of 26th and Hiawatha. That's where a Mercedes traveling southbound at a high rate of speed crossed the median, slamming into a Ford Mustang and another vehicle.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of that third vehicle were both killed.

The Star Tribune reports 56-year-old Guled Mohamed of Minneapolis and 28-year-old Ryan Rivera of Robbinsdale died at the scene of the crash.

Police believe the Mercedes driver may have suffered some sort of a medical incident at the time of the crash.

Photos posted to X (formerly Twitter) show one of the vehicles almost totally destroyed.

Minneapolis Police, along with State Patrol, are investigating. There have been no arrests.
