The University of Minnesota has lifted its mask mandate for most indoor settings, president Joan Gabel announced in an email Friday.
Starting March 21, face masks must be worn only in university-owned classrooms, labs and healthcare facilities. They will also still be required on public transit until the Federal Transit Administration removes the requirement.
Students, staff and visitors will no longer be required to wear masks in dining halls, libraries, study spaces, hallways, student unions, recreational facilities, offices and sports or other entertainment venues. Masks will not be required at spring commencement events, either.
