Valley Fair is debuting its newly renovated water park this Memorial Day weekend.
The re-branded Superior Shores water park is opening to the public this Saturday, unveiling a series of park-wide amenities that include eight premium rental cabanas, a brand-new bar, and a fully updated restaurant.
Park President Stephen Summers says it was developed over the last two and a half years
"It's going to be a great expansion to the park offering, " says Summers, " it includes thirteen brand new waterslides, three of which are tube slides, two are mat racers and then we have a beautiful new kids lagoon that features eight slides, this is going to be a great addition called 'Minnow Bay'."
He says it comes after two years of planning and nearly a year of winter construction.
"There's a brand new bar, an updated restaurant, and a brand new retail shop with eight total brand new cabana's as well. So, we've done a lot of work to make Superior Shores a luxurious water attraction for the families of the Midwest and Minnesota."
Summers says they anticipate these additions will anchor a busy summer lineup of food festivals and live entertainment, as the park celebrates it's 50th year in Shakopee.
A completely reimagined waterpark entrance has been redesigned to create a distinct visual identity separate from the main park.
Specialized food and other promotions are also a part of the celebration, including buy-one-get-one deals on soft-serve ice cream cones and custom 50th-season hoodies and shirts will also be available at retail hubs across the park.
