Vaccine eligibility is opening up to all Minnesotans age 16 and older next Tuesday.
The priority groups of those more vulnerable to severe illness from COVID-19 still stand, but this announcement makes it so that providers in parts of the state with higher supply than demand can administer more shots.
Governor Walz challenged the state, which leads the US in its administration rate based on its allocation, to be the first state to 80 percent.
Minnesota expects 300,000 doses per week by early April. So far 1.5 million Minnesotans have had their first dose and more than 900,000 have had both.
