A student was arrested at Watertown Mayer High School Monday after allegedly threatening to stab a classmate.

The Carver County Sheriff's Office says they were notified Monday afternoon and a deputy did respond to the school where a 16-year old boy had threatened to stab another student with a knife.

"School staff immediately isolated the student, recovered a knife, and notified law enforcement," the Sheriff's Office stated.

According to the sheriff’s office, the student did admit to making the threat and was arrested for making the threat and remains in custody Tuesday.

"Threats of this nature are taken seriously," Carver County Sheriff Jason Kamerud stated. "The Carver County Sheriff's Office thoroughly investigates these types of incidents and will pursue prosecution of anyone found to have criminal involvement."
