As has become a tradition here at News Talk 830 WCCO, we are planning to give our regular shows a break and bring listeners some sounds to celebrate the holidays.
Starting at 12:00p.m. on Christmas Eve, through 6:00p.m Christmas Day, you'll hear classic WCCO programs from the past, music from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and much more.
To kick things off, we'll share a very special CBS program by Gil Gross. Gil will be covering these stories and more entertaining tidbits about the holiday season:
● We will travel with the 60 minutes team to the “New Jerusalem” where tens of thousands of pilgrims travel every year
● An Easter song written in 1742 is now the predominant piece of Christmas Music the world over. Harry Christophers tells the fascinating story of how Handel's Messiah took the world by storm
● We answer the big question, “Why do we hang up big socks on Christmas?”
● We’ll talk with the genius behind Acapella Hanukkah versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and the Star Wars theme music.
● Stress-free Holiday Baking Tips
● Low Budget-High Value Gift Giving
● New Years' Resolutions Do's and Don'ts
Following that, WCCO will present another annual reading of "The Christmas Box" by Richard Paul Evans and voiced by Richard Thomas.
Then we're very proud to present a re-airing of "It's A Wonderful Life" from the live show at the St. Paul Hotel on December 18th which features our very own Cory Hepola.
Here is the full schedule. We hope you'll tune your radio to 830 AM or the Audacy App and join us for this special holiday programming. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year from all of us at News Talk 830 WCCO!
