There's a major traffic project this weekend that'll shut down the crosstown expressway in both directions.

MnDOT officials say Highway 62 - the Crosstown - will be closed from Highway 77 westbound to Interstate 35W.

That closure means anyone headed to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport will have to rely on detours to get to their flights on time.

If you are heading to the airport, the easiest detour is to use 494 and bypass the Crosstown. Of course 494 has its own construction project ongoing so build in extra time for that as well.

The closure begins 10:00 p.m. Friday with the highway reopening before the Monday morning rush hour.

MnDOT will be doing bridge maintenance work forcing the closure.
