A pair of major road projects will impact motorists in St. Paul starting this weekend.
First, eastbound I-94 between Highway 280 and I-35E will close late Friday night through early Monday morning allowing crews to set bridge beams at John Ireland Boulevard.
MnDOT project manager Clay Roessler says the weekend closure of I-94 will let crews set bridge beams at John Ireland Boulevard.
"So those are the beams that are going to be over the eastbound traffic of I-94," he says. "So that'll expect a closure from 280 all the way to 35E. Those motorists are going to have to take 280 northbound to 36 eastbound, and then come back down on 35E south. That basically is half the beams that we will have for John Ireland."
Northbound Highway 280 in St. Paul is set to close next Monday morning for major construction. Southbound 280 then closes later in the month.
"So we wouldn't allow both of those roads to be closed at the same time," Roessler adds. "So yes, 5:00 a.m. is what we're aiming for. And then 280 northbound closes and then southbound will close on April 29th and then both of them will open back up before the State Fair."
