A Maryland woman is now charged with attempted murder after allegedly assaulting her daughter at a Minnesota lake.
35-year-old Jasmine Laws is accused of holding her 15-year-old daughter underwater on the 4th of July in Otter Tail County, in northwestern Minnesota.
According to court documents, Laws claimed she took her daughter’s phone and threw it in the water, which started a physical fight.
Laws also claims she acted in self-defense and the teen's head was never submerged. Multiple witnesses disputed her account.
Laws is scheduled to appear in court for her next hearing on August 26.
