The grandstand celebrated 100 years not long ago.
The streetcar arch and DNR buildings are both in their 90's.
But despite what many people say is the same ol' thing every year, there's plenty of new stuff for the 2024 Great Minnesota Get-Togethers.
That includes a more user-friendly app, now available through the state fair's website.
There are two new rides that'll be wedged into the Mighty Midway, one called the Kraken... not to be confused with Seattle's hockey team... and another called the Defender will be moved into back lot at the 33-acre plot of land in Falcon Heights.
How serious are these carney rides? You have to be 55 inches tall to ride either of them (that's four-and-a-half feet high).
A bunch of new vendors are prepping for their Minnesota State Fair debuts, to go along with all those new foods that donimate conversations for hours.
And state fair officials say some of what's old will get better, like the revamped Ag-Hort Building room reserved for crop art.
Also the new memory wall is coming, with fair fans submitting their entries for display on a forty-foot-long wall that will be built in time for the 2025 Minnesota State Fair.
Which starts in 383 days.
Al Schoch surveyed the finished Crop Art room exactly three weeks before the start of the state fair. He says it looks roomier, but suggested the addition of risers to better see seeds arranged to look like SpongeBob SquarePants. The fair folks say they'll get back to him.
