The Minnesota Lynx selected Tennessee forward Rennia Davis ninth overall in the WNBA Draft on Thursday night.
Davis had her position in the draft drop after experts expected her to land somewhere in the top five picks.
"Everything happens for a reason, I've been praying a lot,” Davis said in an interview after the draft. “[I was] projected to go a little bit higher, but God put me where I'm supposed to be at, so I'm going to go out there, I'm going to Minnesota, and I'm going to give my all."
The Lynx have had success in drafting with five players being awarded Rookie of the Year honors. Napheesa Collier and Crystal Dangerfield are the two latest Lynx forwards to win the WNBA Rookie of the Year award, Collier in 2019, and Dangerfield, who was also a second-round pick, in 2020.

Davis will look to continue the Lynx’s streak, after having a solid career with Tennessee where she averaged 15.4 points and 8 rebounds per game over her four seasons with the Lady Volunteers.
Davis is ready to come to Minnesota and give it her all, as she said to her Twitter followers following her selection.
"I'mma go to Minnesota and give it my all!"
