The good news is Twins baseball games will be broadcast on television for the rest of the 2023 season.
But which channel will carry the games may be in doubt.
A federal bankruptcy judge ruled Thursday that Bally Sports North parent company Diamond Sports must pay the Twins the full $54.8 million owed in the final year of their contract.
Twins fans have been watching the games on Bally Sports North for more than a decade, and that deal expires at the end of the season.
The Twins have already begun exploring their television broadcast options for the 2024 season and beyond.
Under bankruptcy law, Diamond Sports has the right to terminate that deal.
If that happens, Major League Baseball has already committed to producing and distributing Twins game affected.
Diamond Sports filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year for several of its networks.
Teams also affected by yesterday's ruling are the Guardians, Diamondbacks, and Rangers.
In a similar case, Bally Sports has cut broadcast ties with the Padres, and MLB is now handling the rights.
None of this affects the Twins radio broadcasts, which are on WCCO and the Audacy App.
