The season is over for Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, who tore his Achilles in a non-contact injury against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon.

Cousins, who currently ranks among the best passers in the league this season, leading all quarterbacks in passing touchdowns, left the game after tearing his Achilles in the fourth quarter.

The team confirmed the initial diagnosis with an MRI at Twin Cities Orthopedics on Monday.

“The timeline and details of his upcoming surgery will be determined this week. The team will continue to provide updates,” the team said.

Cousins is in the final year of his contract with the team, leaving his future in Minnesota up in the air, making his victory in Green Bay possibly his last time in purple and gold.

The team has yet to name a starter for next week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.
