Washington, DC is busily preparing for President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration on Wednesday in anticipation for those excited about the change in power, and those who may pose a threat to the nation's capital.
Armed National Guard troops are flooding the city, workers are surrounding the U.S. Capitol with razor wire, and communications towers are being set up to help protect against any potential retaliation against the new presidency.
At the same time, shops are being stocked with inaugural souvenirs, buildings are adorned with banners congratulating Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, and their supporters are happily walking around the nation's capital in attire to show support for the duo.
These photos were taken Thursday, and illustrate the city's preparations.
