Karly Hahn, the former chair of the Minnesota College Republicans, shared in a statement on Twitter that she has been scared to speak out for almost two years.
"I've been scared to speak out for almost 2 years now in fear of what Jennifer would do to me," Hahn said.
Hahn shared in her statement that she had heard stories of how hard it was to work with Carnahan when she took her position as the chair. However, even without directly working with the MNGOP, Hahn still became involved with Carnahan.
"Not even halfway into my first term, it was brought to my attention that chairwoman Carnahan was sending horrendous allegations around about me, backing it with a false accusation that I was running a slanderous Twitter account about her," she shared in the statement.
To stop the accusations from Carnahan, Hahn shared that she even went as far as to find out who was running the Twitter account. However, this did not repair the relationship with Hahn, she said.
The Minnesota College Republicans have since released a statement calling for Carnahan to resign from her position following the allegations brought against her.
The Assistant Minority Leader Rep. Jim Nash also shared in a statement on Twitter that Carnahan should resign following the various accusations brought against her.
"I'm horrified and embarrassed by what I've learned," Nash said.
Nash shared that he was incredibly sad to find out that Carnahan suppressed complaints of sexual assault and harassment within the organization.
"To think that young women who admired her were bullied by her after turning to her for help is beyond disturbing," Nash said. "As the father of 3 young women, I'm shocked that this type of offensive behavior against women was allowed and carried out by Chair Carnahan."
Nash went on to thank the victims who showed "courage and great vulnerability" when coming forward and sharing their experiences.
For Nash, Carnahan's next step is clear, "Jennifer Carnahan must resign immediately."
When asked about the accusations brought against her on News Talk 830 WCCO Carnahan dismissed them, saying that they were coming from the same people who were against her when she ran for the chair position.
"All the people calling for my resignation are people that didn't support me when I ran for reelection four months ago and won with over 67% of the vote on the first ballot," she said.
However, some, like Minnesota Rep. Marion O'Neill, didn't agree with her comments.
O'Neill shared her thoughts on the situation on Facebook.
"If Jennifer Carnahan didn't have the wisdom to recognize the evil that lurks within, she is not fit to lead," O'Neill said. "I expect more. I demand more."
