A seemingly routine play at a youth football game in Houston between the Southside Ravens and the Northwest Gorillas has attracted the attention of local police after an overzealous parent chose to involve herself in the action on the field.

The mom in question has not been identified by Houston PD, but she was caught on camera taking strong exception to a boy, reportedly her 12-year-old son, being tackled by a member of the opposing team, also 12.

The woman can be seen in the video charging onto the field and chasing down the defensive player, who runs from her with his hands in the air.

While the woman does not touch the boy from the opposing team, she reportedly threatened to slap him, leading that boy’s mother to file a police report.

Investigators are “looking into the incident,” according to Houston PD.

The Youth Football and Cheerleading Federation, the governing league in charge of the game in question, released a statement on the events in question.

“This was an incident that could have ended much worse than it did. A parent running onto the game field after an opposing team player can have a counter-effect of the child's parent responding in kind in defense of their own child, not to mention potential reactions of the staff members of both teams. Fortunately, the staff of both teams were able to get things under control and did not allow the incident to escalate,” the statement reads.
