What a difference a year makes.

When Joe Biden took over as President of the United States, he launched his presidency with an approval rating that sat above 61%. But the public perception of his tenure has taken a precipitous drop in the last 12 months.

As Biden crosses the one-year threshold since his inauguration on January 20, 2021, his approval rating sits at just 43%, the lowest it has been since he took office, according to an AP/NORC poll.

That 43% represents respondents who either “somewhat or strongly approve” of the job Biden has done as Commander-in-Chief. Conversely, 56% of respondents say they disapprove, leaving little room for those who don’t have a strong opinion.

Essentially, Americans either like Biden’s job performance or they don’t, and to this point, the majority is leaning towards “don’t,” and that’s been the prevailing sentiment for months.

Biden’s rating first dipped below 50% in October and has yet to pull out of its nosedive, not a good omen for Democrats who hope to keep their narrow majority in the House of Representatives and at least keep things split 50-50 in the Senate in this November’s midterm elections.
