Actor Alec Baldwin, who has been accused by some of being responsible for the fatal onset shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, can be seen declaring his innocence immediately after the incident in new body camera footage released by the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office.
In movie footage released by the SFSO, Baldwin can be seen with the gun that shot Hutchins in the moments before the shooting. Another video also shows Hutchins being cared for on the ground by first responders. That video can be seen by clicking here, but viewer discretion is advised.
Director Joel Souza, who was injured by the same bullet that killed Hutchins, can also be seen on the ground.
“I take the gun out and as the barrel clears, I turn and cock the gun and the gun goes off,” Baldwin tells officers in one video from moments after the incident posted by TMZ.
An investigation into the working conditions on the set of “Rust,” the production Baldwin, Hutchins and Souza were working on, said that management “knew that firearm safety procedures were not being followed on set and demonstrated plain indifference to employee safety by failing to review work practices and take corrective action.”
Baldwin can be considered part of that management as one of the film’s producers.
“I feel that someone is responsible for what happened and I can't say who that is, but I know it's not me,” Baldwin has said previously about the incident.
Despite some very public criticism, the actor has yet to be charged officially by investigators, who say they are still collecting phone records and ballistic information and have not come to a conclusion on who is to blame.
