Camera captures dozens of looters rampaging through AutoZone

An investigation is underway after dozens of looters ransacked an AutoZone and at least two other businesses early Monday morning.

The burglaries occurred in the overnight hours within a four-mile radius in South Los Angeles' Vermont Vista neighborhood, according to the LAPD.

Surveillance video shows a number of vehicles doing donuts in an intersection before a group of people smash the glass of an AutoZone and pull back the security fencing, allowing at least 50 looters to enter the store. It happened around 3:50 a.m. local time.

Some of the looters were seen walking away with car parts and other merchandise while others dropped the items they had taken in their haste to flee the scene.

Store officials have not said how much was merchandise was stolen or damaged.

The looters also hit two other stores in the area, according to reports.

Although most of the looters got away, police managed to chase down one suspect who had an estimated $11,000 worth of stolen goods in his vehicle.

Investigators are working to track down additional suspects, according to a police spokesman.
