Former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer's beautiful 8,887 square foot house in Inver Grove Heights is up for sale with a hefty price tag just under $2 million.
The five bedroom house is located at 8718 Alvarado Tr., and is just a 25 minute drive from U.S. Bank Stadium and the University of Minnesota. It's currently listed by Coldwell Banker Realty for $1,995,000.
The property sits on 6 private acres of land, and has five full baths, three partial baths, and a huge 7 car garage. The garages are split between a four-car garage and a three-car garage on the lower level, and both are heated spaces.
There is a newly remodeled gourmet kitchen with a coffee bar, wine bar and walk-in pantry. The family room has an open concept, a stone-surround gas fireplace and walls of windows.
Additional features include a fantastic view of nature and a nearby pond. There's also two main-level offices, a natural light-filled sunroom, and an athletic court.
Zimmer was fired by the Vikings on Jan. 10 after serving as head coach for eight seasons, going 74–59–1 in that time and 2-3 in the playoffs.
Luckily, the 65-year-old already owns a separate house nearly 12 hours away in Northern Kentucky. The "Zimmer Ridge Ranch" has a total of 160 acres with more than 8,000 square feet and five bedrooms.
Zimmer bought the first 40 acres of land in 2013, and decided to expand and build a house on the land fourth months later after he was hired by the Vikings.
"I'm probably the dumbest person around to build a house 12 hours from where I work, but I really liked the property and I said, 'What the hell, I'll just build a house on it,'" Zimmer told ESPN in 2019.
His daughter, Corri Zimmer, said that her father is a different person when he's on the ranch, especially when he can enjoy it during the offseason.
"Especially at the ranch, he's a completely different person," Corri Zimmer said. "He's not really worried about much. A couple weeks back when we were down there, my husband's like, 'He seems calmer this year.' And I'm like, 'Well yeah, the season hasn't started yet.'"
At the time in 2019, Zimmer said he would consider buying cattle if he chose to retire in Kentucky on the land. He enjoys the outdoor lifestyle, including going shooting and planting trees and flowers around the property.
"I wanted to make it better for the wildlife and hunting," Zimmer said. "I've had wildlife biologists out here to help teach me."
It's currently unclear if Zimmer will be retiring after his time with the Vikings has ended, but it appears he'll be heading back to the "Zimmer Ridge Ranch" with his house in Minnesota on the market.
