The FBI in Pittsburgh has provided an updated on the investigation into the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

The FBI says the shooting by Thomas Matthew Crooks is also being treated “as potential domestic terrorism.”

Specialists have been able to gain access to Crooks’ phone and are continuing to “analyze his electronic devices.”

They’ve also finished searches of Crooks’ home and vehicle.

“The FBI has conducted nearly 100 interviews of law enforcement personnel, event attendees, and other witnesses,” a statement from the bureau states. “That work continues.”

Anyone with any information on the shooting is asked to submit it to the FBI by going online or calling 1-800-CALL-FBI.

Crooks is a 2022 graduate of Bethel Park High School. The New York Times reported that he "was interested in chess and coding, and had recently received an associate’s degree in engineering science. High school classmates remembered him as an intelligent student who had few friends, but who never exhibited any glaring red flags. The nursing home where he had a job helping with meals said his work gave its staff no reason for concern.”

They added that "federal authorities said he had no apparent history of mental health issues or previous threats, and had not been on the radar of federal law enforcement."

His parents are both licensed counselors in an affluent suburb and Crooks was a registered Republican who also once donated $15 to a 'liberal voter turnout group.'
