A Florida couple has been locked up after police said they were caught on camera in an attempted armed robbery at a Lowe’s hardware store while wearing matching Cookie Monster pajamas over the weekend.
The incident happened in Cape Coral, Florida, and the Cape Coral Police Department shared photos of the fashionable couple in a press release.
Identified in the photos are Charlie Perez, 22, and Jalina Sepulveda, 19, who entered the Lowe’s Hardware store on Sunday wearing matching Cookie Monster pajama bottoms before trying to leave without paying for several items.
The store’s loss prevention team observed the pair trying to take advantage of the five-finger discount, and when they approached them, Perez allegedly revealed a gun in his waistband and made threats while leaving the store.
Police were called to the scene on Sunday but were unable to catch the couple.
However, on Monday, they were found and arrested. Both have been booked in Lee County Jail, where their bonds have not yet been set.
