Hollywood actor says he is joining ICE

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s an… ICE agent?

“JOIN ICE!!” exclaimed a Tuesday post from the X account of Dean Cain, an actor best known for his role as Clark Kent/Superman in the four-season 90s show “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”.

In addition to his work as an actor, Cain, 58, became a sworn member of the Anthony Police Reserves in Idaho back in 2018, the Rexburg Standard Journal reported. Eric Estrada, an actor known for his role on the police show “CHiPs” is also on the reserves.

“I felt that it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it,” said Cain in a video also posted to X referring to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, also referred to as ICE. “And here’s your opportunity to join ICE. You can earn lots of great benefits and pay.”

According to AAE Speakers, Cain is an “outspoken conservative,” and graduate of Princeton University. He was also a professional football player. American Rifleman reported last year that he had been elected to the National Rifle Association’s Board of Directors for a term ending in 2017.

Cain is also a fan of President Donald Trump. In an interview with Variety published last month, Cain said: “I love President Trump. I’ve been friends with him forever.”

“Since President [Donald Trump took office, ICE has arrested hundreds of thousands of criminals, including terrorists, rapists, murderers, pedophiles, MS-13 gang members, drug traffickers, you name it, very dangerous people who are no longer on the streets,” Cain continued in the video. “You can defend your homeland and get great benefits, like a $50,000 signing bonus – think about that – student loan repayment, legally,” he added with a chuckle.

ICE is seeking new members for its enforcement team.

“America has been invaded by criminals and predators. We need YOU to get them out,” its homepage declares.

In particular, it is seeking applicants with law enforcement experience and it does not require a degree. The site said it will also accept recent graduates without experience and appropriate associate, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificates.

“ICE is looking for individuals with integrity and courage. ICE is interested in hiring law enforcement personnel who aspire to the highest standards of performance, professionalism and leadership,” said the website. “Deportation officers and special agents must be in excellent physical condition, able to tolerate environmental stresses and have strong critical thinking skills. ICE employees should be committed to its mission to protect America from cross-border crime and illegal immigration that threaten national security and public safety.”

If selected for a job, ICE agents might be asked to move. However, ICE said it is flexible about placements.

“Join today if it’s something that tickles your fancy, because we can use you,” said Cain.

While Cain encourages people to sign up with ICE, another star who plays a superhero – Mark Ruffalo, who stars as Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – has joined protests against ICE enforcement. USA Today reported that Ruffalo “joined the political front line and marched in a ‘No Kings Day’ protest in New York this summer.
