Internet influencer Trisha Paytas announced the birth of her daughter Wednesday, and the new baby girl has a name that fits right in with the “barbiecore” trend that dominated fashion this summer.
“She has arrived,” said Paytas in an Instagram post. “Meet our daughter, Malibu Barbie Paytas-Hacmon.”
Paytas, 34, is a native of Riverside, Calif., and grew up in Illinois before moving back to California. She initially gained a following online when she began posting YouTube videos in 2006.
Since then, she has appeared in Amy Winehouse’s “Tears Dry on Their Own” music video, on the TV show “Celebrity Big Brother” and other media, according to The Huffington Post. Paytas also frequently posts on Instagram, where she has 750,000 followers.
She married Israeli artist Moses Hacmon, 44, last year. He is the brother of Hila Klein, who hosts the “H3” podcast with her husband, Ethan Klein. Paytas and Ethan Klein also hosted the “Frenemies” podcast together.
Malibu Barbie, the inspiration for her daughter’s name, was a swimsuit-clad Barbie doll that debuted in 1971. Mattel describes the doll as having a “sun-kissed, tan skin and cool beach vibe.”
This year, production photos from the set of the “Barbie” children’s movie directed by Greta Gerwig with stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling inspired a bit of Barbie-mania. The film is expected to premiere next summer.
Even before the Barbie craze, Paytas has been interested in dolls, posting videos of her dressing up like an American Girl doll and doing Bratz doll makeup on YouTube, where her profile name also references dolls.
