During a recent interview, First Lady Jill Biden discussed her husband’s age, saying that it isn’t the liability some believe it to be but instead “an asset.”
Biden, 72, shared her thoughts while speaking with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“He’s wise. He has wisdom,” Biden said of her 81-year-old husband, President Joe Biden, who would be 86 at the end of another term if he were reelected.
Biden was then asked if there was any part of that was worried about his health or age.
“He can do it. And I see Joe every day. I see him out, traveling around this country. I see his vigor. I see his energy. I see his passion every single day,” Biden said, adding that she says “his age is an asset.”
She went on to say that the president is “experienced” and “knows every leader on the world stage.”
“He’s lived history. He knows history,” Biden said.
At this time, Biden said that her husband “ is the right man, the right person for the job at this moment in history.”
However, the rest of the country doesn’t seem to agree with the first lady, as numerous polls from last summer showed that the president’s age was a major concern for voters.
One NBC News poll from September found that 74% of voters think he isn’t mentally and physically able to be president for another term, compared to 73% who said something similar in a Wall Street Journal poll from August.
Still, when it comes to Biden’s reelection claim, she saw no other choice but to win in November.
“We have to win. We must win. We cannot let go of our democracy,” Biden said.
