After the second week of jury selection in the Derek Chauvin Trial, 13 are seated so far, and the judge says he now wants more than orignally expected.

Judge Peter Cahill says they'll try to find at least two more jurors because he wants to make sure they've got enough to last through the trial.

Twelve jurors are needed and at least two alternates, but hat number looks like it'll be at least three at this point.

The search for jurors will continue at 9:00 a.m. Monday.

Opening statements are scheduled for Monday, March 29, and with only two jurors left to be seated, those who are picked are going to get a few days off until they're back at the Hennepin County government center.

They are all asked to stay away from any pretrial publicity of the case.

Last week, Cahill ruled that the trial won't be moved to a new venue, because he feels every part of Minnesota has been subjected to publicity about the police custody death of George Floyd.

The 13 jurors selected through the first two weeks represent a diverse group.

Court records show seven are white, four are Black, and two are multiracial.
