A note left at a Kentucky Fried Chicken fast food restaurant in Memphis, Tenn., may have saved a woman’s life.
According to a Facebook post from the Memphis Police Department, officers responded to a call at a KFC located at 6262 Winchester Road at approximately 5 p.m. May 14. When they arrived, they were told that a woman “had written a note begging for help.”
The author of the note was still on the “business lot,” when authorities arrived, and she was accompanied by a male. When police approached, the man fled on foot.
“After a brief foot chase, he was apprehended and identified as Diego Glay,” a 23-year-old man, said police.
Before she wrote the message at KFC, Glay’s girlfriend had traveled to Memphis from another state via Greyhound bus to meet him. After she arrived, they began arguing and “she attempted to leave him several times and return home,” according to authorities.
However, Glay allegedly “held her physically against her will” with physical assaults and threats while he was armed with a handgun.”
Glay was charged with Kidnapping and Evading Arrest and his bond was set at $35,000. According to NBC News, his preliminary hearing is set for June 1.
