LANSING (WWJ) -- A Michigan family went from worry to wonder when they discovered what they believed to be a live ammunition round over the weekend.

While cleaning out a home in Lansing, the family came across the round which reportedly dated back to WWI.
Believing it could be dangerous, they contacted Michigan State Police, who sent out a bomb squad to perform an x-ray and run tests.
After coming to the conclusion that the round was not live, they opened it up to discover dozens of coins and bills from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
According to MSP, the ammunition round was given to police, while the family kept the hidden treasure.
