Get ready to trick-or-treat and then buy the tools for your next home improvement project, as Lowe's is planning a Halloween event to make up for last year's COVID-19 version of the holiday.

Stores nationwide will celebrate spooky season with the retailer's "Hal-LOWE-en Trick-or-Treat Tryouts" event, USA Today reported.

The event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. in participating store's garden centers. To see what stores will be hosting the event and to register, go to Lowes.com/TrickorTreat.

Each store will allow for up to 100 families, and cloth face coverings and social distancing will be required to participate, Lowe's said.

The executive vice president of stores for Lowe's, Joe McFarland, shared in a statement why the retailer decided to put the event together.

"We know that families are looking for safe and creative ways to celebrate Halloween again this year, and we saw an opportunity for Lowe's to provide that experience in our local communities," McFarland said.

Along with getting to fill their bags with candy and show off their costumes, kids will be able to take photos in front of a "scary-cute spiderweb backdrop."

With the Center for Disease Control announcing that children will be safe to trick or treat this Halloween, Lowe's got an early jump on prepping for the holiday.

The retailer's CEO, Marvin Ellison, shared with USA Today that shoppers are getting ready for the spookiest day of the year sooner than in years past. As a result, products for kids, adults, pets, and holiday decor are flying off the shelves.

Experts are recommending that precautions are still taken this year, with most kids trick-or-treating not being vaccinated as they are primarily under the age of 11.

Rochelle Walenksy, the CDC Director, shared that she "wouldn't necessarily go to a crowded Halloween party, but I think we should be able to let our kids go trick-or-treating in small groups," CBS News reported.
