For the past two decades, 7-Eleven has celebrated “7-Eleven Day” on July 11 by giving out free Slurpees. However, most people refer to it as “Slurpee Day” and this year the company has decided it should too.
So, this July 11 will mark the first official “Slurpee Day” celebration for 7-Eleven’s “birthday” and customers who are part of the 7-Eleven 7REWARDS can still get their free Slurpees, as well as deals on other items.
“Customers have often referred to 7-Eleven Day as Slurpee Day – now we are, too,” said the company. “Our very first Slurpee Day is extra special as we welcome our friends at Speedway to the party.”
Members of the Speedy Rewards program can also grab a free Slurpee later this month.
7-Eleven, formerly known as Tote’m, was founded 95 years ago in Dallas, Texas.
Slurpees are a 7-Eleven exclusive frozen beverage drink with a history dating back to the 1950s, when restaurateur Omar Knedlik’s soda fountain broke, leading him to invent the frozen slushy drink. At 7-Eleven, Slurpees are served at 28 degrees Fahrenheit in flavors such as cherry and Coca-Cola.
To get a free Slurpee on July 11 people can: download the 7-Eleven or Speedway app on their phone, head to a 7-Eleven Speedway or Stripes store and fill up a special Slurpee Day cup with their flavor (or flavors) of choice, scan their app at the checkout counter to make sure their drink is free.
This year, 7-Eleven is also rolling out an exclusive new, limited-time Slurpee flavor called “What the Fanta?” that has a mystery taste. Other Slurpee Day celebration deals include $1 treats, including: muffins, ring donuts, mini tacos, pizza slices and premium grill items as well as mix and match candy.
The 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards programs are free to join. Apart from the Slurpee Days deals, members can also earn points for making purchases and get other perks such as discounts.
