
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed outside a hotel in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday morning, 1010 WINS has learned.
Thompson, 50, was shot just before 7 a.m. outside the Hilton Club The Residences at West 54th Street and Sixth Avenue, according to police.
He was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

Thompson was the CEO of UnitedHealthcare's insurance division, one of the company's biggest units. The company was hosting an investor day at the hotel Wednesday.
A caterer for the event said no one showed up at the morning session at 7 a.m. and she suspected something was wrong.
After opening fire, the shooter ran off on 54th Street, police said. He remained at large Wednesday.
A person who witnessed the shooting said the gunman was wearing a black mask and a cream-colored jacket.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including any potential motive, weren’t immediately known as the investigation continues.
