According to reports, five people were killed in a shooting on Thursday morning that involved an unidentified man fatally shooting his wife, her two children, and two other women.

Authorities confirmed the shooting to KWTX, saying that the shooting occurred in McGregor, Texas, just before 8 a.m.

After arriving at the scene, police located the bodies of two of the victims; one female was found dead inside a nearby home and another in the street.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Ryan Howard shared that the Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation to uncover what happened, according to KCEN.

KWTX confirmed the relation between three of the victims through a law enforcement source, but Howard shared he could not confirm the suspect's relation to the victims.

The man was taken into custody but is currently receiving medical treatment after he engaged police, and they shot him, KWTX reported.

A press conference was held at noon on Thursday, but the McGregor Police Department did not share much information other than the victim used a firearm in the attack.

The investigation is ongoing.
