‘Mary Tyler Moore Show’ star Cloris Leachman dies at 94

Cloris Leachman, who starred on the iconic ‘70s television series "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," has died at the age of 94.

According to TMZ, Leachman died from natural causes at her home in Encinitas, California. Her daughter, Dinah, was at her side, Leachman's son told the outlet.


Leachman won two Emmys for her playing Phyllis Lindstrom on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." In 1975, she starred in the titular role in the spin-off series, "Phyllis."

The Iowa native took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1971 film "The Last Picture Show."

Other film credits include "Young Frankenstein," "Butch Cassidy and the Sunshine Kid," "History of the World Part 1," "Spanglish" and "Scary Movie 4."

Throughout her career, Leachman received a total of 8 Emmy Awards and is tied with Julia Louis-Dreyfus for most wins by an actress. Most recently, she took home the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy for her work on "Macolm in the Middle."

Her long list of television credits include appearances on "Facts of Life," "Mad About You," "Two and a Half Men," "Raising Hope" and "American Gods." In 2008, she also showed off her moves appearing as a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars."
