Weddings are supposed to be one of the best days in a couple’s life, but concerns about costs can make things less than joyous. In one country, McDonald’s is stepping up to help.
McDonald’s restaurants in Jakarta, Indonesia are offering $200 wedding packages that include 100 chicken sandwiches and 100 four-piece packages of chicken McNuggets.
That’s according to a recent Instagram post from McDonald’s Indonesia. In addition to this package, the post said other options with a 200-piece minimum order will also be offered.
“It’s time for McDonald’s memorable moments,” said the post.
According to CNBC, the $230 deal would provide a chicken sandwich and McNuggets for $2 per person at a 100-guest wedding. Those interested could also ask for on-site food stall service.
“The wedding package is not for holding a wedding at a McD store, but only for food, such as catering,” said a statement from Rizki Haryadi of McDonald’s Indonesia published by the U.S. Sun.
According to CNBC, McDonald’s has ventured into wedding catering before, with packages offered in Hong Kong during 2011. It is unclear if the wedding deal will ever be offered in the U.S.
However, even without the package, offering McChicken sandwiches to guests would offer some savings as U.S. inflation remains high.
According to The Knot, the average catering price per person for weddings with 51 to 100 guests is around $70. Buying a McChicken and four McNuggets for every guest would cost a little under $6 per person, based on prices in the Chicago, Ill., area.
Stateside, McDonald’s has been busy promoting the birthday of one of its mascots, a purple creature named Grimace, with the Grimace shake.
WBBM reported last month on how the shake inspired a spooky trend on the TikTok app.
