Minnesota Twins shortstop Andrelton Simmons has come under fire for what appears to be a tweet against the Covid-19 vaccine.

Simmons tested positive for the virus at the beginning of the season in April, following him denying the option to get the vaccine when the team made it available to all players and staff at Target Field.
Now critics have let Simmons hear it online, going after his performance on the field and his opinions off.
Shocked we’d see such a big swing and a miss from a guy batting…

Some in his comments section are simply trying to offer resources that provide information on the vaccine.
Hi Andrelton. Here's an article in the scholarly journal Nature, with links to studies showing that the vaccines are extremely effective. Can you show me the research you're looking at? Thanks. https://t.co/msMHaf6FAq

The Twins had met and reminded players and staff to heed virus protocols following Simmons positive case, but the team was mostly vaccinated.
When tweeting that he was not getting the vaccine or advocating for it, Simmons said he was against it for "personal reasons and past experience." However, he did not explain what he meant by that.
The team has not released any comments on Simmons.
