Billionaire Elon Musk seemed to shock his followers over the weekend when he asked author J.K. Rowling to stop posting her views on transgenderism on his platform X.
Musk made his comment on Saturday in response to a post from the “Harry Potter” author that she made almost a month ago about how she defines a woman.
“While I heartily agree with your points regarding sex/gender, may I suggest also posting interesting and positive content on other matters?” Musk asked in his post.
Rowling has found herself in hot water with trans rights activists for her views on sex and gender, which she often shares publicly on social media. Her remarks have sparked boycotts of her content and death threats.
The author has been labeled by many as a “TERF,” or trans-exclusionary radical feminist.
The remark from Musk left many puzzled as he has a long-standing history of disliking pronouns and even said that the terms “cis” and “cisgender” are considered “slurs” on X.
Many responded to Musk’s post with questions of whether or not he had been “hacked,” as many couldn’t believe he made the post.
“honest question but have you ever “advised” another user to stop posting about what they want like this?” one user asked.
“did Grimes tweet this” another posted.
Rowling has yet to respond to Musk’s post.
