According to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the Build Back Better bill may still be on the table. The Democratic congresswoman shared on Sunday she thinks a deal with Senator Joe Manchin can still be made.

Pelosi spoke on "Face the Nation," where she shared that not all is lost regarding the president's $1.75 trillion social spending plan, even after talks were stalled last month.

Now, Pelosi said she has spoken with Manchin "over time" and thinks the bill will still possibly reach Biden's desk.

"I do think there's an agreement to be reached," Pelosi said. "It's so important for our country."

With concerns around inflation mounting in December, Manchin decided to pull his support for the $1.75 trillion tax-and-spending plan. Manchin also cited the pandemic and the national debt as why he decided to pull out.

The bill carries most of the president's agenda and would look to address plans to combat climate change, provide paid family and medical leave, offer universal pre-K, and expand health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

Following a version of the legislation passing in the House in November, a late-December goal was set for it to clear the Senate by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

The White House began negotiating with Manchin, and talks spurted out just before Christmas. Talks got stagnant over the expanded child tax credit.

While Pelosi thinks that talks will begin again, the Senate is currently pursuing the passage of other legislation centered around voting rights and followed by a domestic policy plan.

The House Speaker acknowledged her party's plans while taking a shot across the aisle.

"There's nothing more important for us to do than protect our Constitution and our democracy," Pelosi said. "What the Republicans are doing across the country is really a legislative continuation of what they did on January 6, which is to undermine our democracy, to undermine the integrity of our elections, to undermine the voting power, which is the essence of a democracy."

She continued on voting rights saying, "we have to do that bill. There is no more important bill that enables us to support and defend the Constitution of the United States."
